Shaker mixes are a great idea, but what about the impact of the packaging?
New Dr. Oetker Shaker mixes were introduced to the Canadian market in February 2009 to meet the growing consumer need for simpler, quicker and “better for you” baking and dessert products. Before introducing the Shaker line, Dr. Oetker Canada also evaluated the environmental impact of the packaging. Our evaluation confirmed that a plastic bottle is the most effective packaging we can utilize. The packaging (bottle) acts as the “mixing bowl.” Liquid is added to the mix, making alternative materials, such as paper or cardboard unfeasible. The materials were specifically designed to be recyclable with minimal impact on the environment. All aspects of the Dr. Oetker Shaker packaging are recyclable: bottle, cap, label and cases. Most cities across Canada currently have programs that recycle the type of plastic used in our bottles. Those municipalities that are not yet able to recycle this packaging are working to achieve that objective in the near future.
What is the Shaker product shelf life?
